Softly We Spin

07/23/2024

Softly we spin through a space outside time, forgetting, forgetting, forgetting we climb,

So high, too high, high from vapors and vibes, forgetting too often how high we can climb.

Failing to hear soft murmurs like chimes, that tell us, that tell us, that tell us to climb,

Back down from that high that wraps us so tight

In lime-green curtains opaque to their eyes.

Ignoring, ignoring, ignoring their sighs, their needs, their fears, the sky, the sky,

Dipping, diving, driving beyond all desires within that cozy, known lie,

Never, never, never without you, without you no longer a breath to be breathed,

Never, never, never the hardness that nearly and dearly tore love’s prickly wreath,

Never, never, never less than tender together, unless, no unless, never deign to consider.

What this can withstand, it already has,

And though it undid her, still solid she stands.

To him it scorched darkness and caused it to wither,

To wither, to wither and cast him through lands.

And anew he is, hitherto here;

And stolid she is, as usual, as usual.

But not without ruptures, many little black tears,

Many tiny brown thorns that skin did pierce,

Not to be removed, no certainly not,

But placed in their places for when they are ready

To move, to groove, to love once again,

To open their hearts to love’s watery fen.
