Resting Phoenix

07/21/2006

From the ashes of her first death,

She arose and spread her glorious wings.

Single-minded in direction and purpose,

She took flight and sought her place among the new world,

But found herself unable to navigate the winds of deceit and iniquity.

Men with hearts as black as the gold they sought

Wrestled away her dignity, and once again she died.

But as she lay in slumber, faint awareness of the war

That ravaged the land outside of her body, a tiny spark still burned.

Another her had already begun to grow.
