Polarity and Awe

07/01/2024

Humans create electrostatic attraction,

Tiny parts of our atoms charged in opposition.

One moment bright lightning shining our chasms,

The next an unbearable, insufferable tension.

A web of confusion that teases and tears,

Like a tornado crossing a rugged terrain.

At times, we ignore our poorly built chasms,

Wanting to move past a lifetime of tension.

Slogging through turns and twists and more tears,

That soak as we trudge through echo’d terrain.

And sometimes, reflecting, we choose opposition,

To growing past choices towards true touch and attraction.

He and I built an intense opposition,

Yet every third word drew us back to attraction.

Running across a shared, broken, purple terrain.

Faces like mirrors sweating fears and tears.

Seeking each other across our shared chasms.

Only one heart working to manage the tension.

Walking at length across one’s internal terrain

Proves time has a way of showing the tears.

Of prolonged states in the mildest opposition,

And falsely intended modes of attraction.

Reverently we seek the awe of love’s tension

Oft at the mercy of old, unloved chasms.

I cannot resolve this undulating tension,

That causes me to run headfirst into chasms.

Obsessed with the need for sudden attraction,

Unfailingly on a zigzag path towards opposition,

Cutting tender feet on jagged, heartfelt terrain,

Washing them in pools of pink tears.

But it hasn’t yet dried that pool of pink tears.

It’s actually spread wide across my terrain.

And my heart hasn’t failed despite all the tension,

In fact it’s grown stronger than all those dark chasms.

What may once have been a sordid attraction,

Has transformed me to resilient opposition.

No more ruinous tension causing ruptured chasms.

No more unwalked terrain without palliate tears.

Only sweet, soft attraction bereft of opposition.
