Darkness and Light

08/26/2024

Deep in the crevices we manufacture,

Alight with the fire of personal rapture,

Rests an intentionally kept-away creature,

Kneeling in wait to be seen.

Not willing to bend to our earnest timetable,

Exalting itself as willing and able,

Stature en-shadowed by self-sordid fable.

Slowly, we struggle to glean.

Arisen our will to cast off this shape,

Nearing an edge that begs us to break,

Destiny calls us to battle and cape,

Lunging the dark doth careen.

Ignited within us a flamed apparition,

Grotesque at first sight this bounded partition,

Heavy the burden this naked audition,

The journey of those who’d be queen.
