On the Christian Right's Right to Abuse a Woman's Rights
05/13/2022
Every woman has an inalienable, Constitutionally-mandated, God-given right to make the best choice for herself and her body.
In this context, I do not understand conservative American politics or its penchant for mass-marketing Christian values.
How can a state legislate in a pro-life context...and then tell the story to their constituents that this ISN'T government telling people what to do? Like as long as we stop "the boogeyman's voters", this makes our party's hypocrisy acceptable. Woof.
Moreover, this kind of legislation implies strongly that women are lesser than men. Christian value? Eesh. Last I checked, my mom ran and saved our family many times over. Every day is Mother's Day in that context.
This type of legislation also hypocritically implies the child is more important than the "vessel." But once the child is here, all bets are off on quality of life, education, support systems, and future viability in an ever-complex economy if those things are not accessible. So paths to incarceration, poverty and suicide increases for some, but at least we feel good that the kids are alive?
And shrug emoji if a state like Oklahoma continues to legally punish single moms working jobs and going to school while raising multiple kids because MEN should lead the family, even when they are unreliable, abusive addicts. I know multiple single moms in Tulsa who had to beat their husbands off their kids and received domestic violence charges as a reward.Â
Christian system? Don't believe so.
