On Ramadan and Introspective Faith
05/26/2017
It's nearly Ramadan again, and so I feel obliged to express. Those of you that know me, you know I'd be the first to admit this holy month is more about my cultural connection and spirituality than strict faith. I certainly believe we are all tumbling towards something much larger and powerful than we can fathom - call it God, Allah, the universe, Buddha, etc. More important that we all respect, love and forgive than bicker over names, right?
Well those particularly positive actions to me exemplify the fast. Every Ramadan, I find introspection in spades, a return to simple, soulful focus and a level of humility that my general self-centeredness generally overwhelms during the solar months. Fasting has become a metaphysical reprieve from the everyday physical anchors that keep us grounded but also sometimes peripherally challenged. Opening the aperture, so to speak, can be very gratifying!
Anyways, I've got all of you in mind and heart, and hope to find even the slightest touch - a text, a call, a post, a snap, a hug, whatever - to connect us in this particularly special month.
